An unidentified man lifted a BMW X-5 from a HUDA complex at Sector 9 after they posed as customers of Chandigarh-based automobile dealer Krishna Automobiles on Tuesday.

According to the police, an unidentified youngster called the automobile dealer expressing his desire to buy a BMW X-5 and requesting a test drive. After a car salesman Rakesh Sharma and driver Surjit Singh reached the address given by the youngster in Sector 9, they were served tea laced with sedatives. After they lost consciousness, the man locked them in the bathroom and drove away in the vehicle, taking a laptop and their mobiles.

When Sharma and Singh regained consciousness, they alerted the police and the dealer. The two have been admitted to the civil hospital.

Investigations revealed that the youngster had taken the house on rent on December 29. Sector-9 police post in-charge Gulzar Singh said a case has been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
