Man found hanging from tree in Sec 56

A 31-year-old man committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree in the forest area near Sector 56 in Chandigarh on Tuesday.

The deceased has been identified as Sanjeev Kumar, a resident of Sector 56. He was found hanging by a passerby in the morning.
The police were informed and the body was lowered after cutting the rope with which he had hanged himself.

The police rushed the victim to the Government Multi-Specialty Hospital in Sector 16 where he was declared brought dead by the doctors. No suicide note was recovered from the spot.

According to the station house officer of the Sector 39 police station, inspector Ranjodh Singh, the victim was under depression. There were no visible injury marks on the body and the police have ruled out foul play.

The victim is survived by his wife and a one-month-old daughter. The police have started inquest proceedings under section 174 of the CrPC in this connection.
