A local court on Saturday sentenced a man to 10 years rigorous imprisonment after holding him guilty of supplying drugs. His wife, meanwhile, was handed a two year jail term.

Dalip Singh and his wife Jaswinder Kaur, both natives of Jalandhar, Punjab, were arrested last year after the police found Singh with 400 grams of heroin and rs 4 lakh cash and his wife with Rs 100 grams.

Further investigations had revealed that the couple had come to SAS Nagar to sell narcotics to their regular customers. The two were booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act on April 15, 2013.

On Saturday, additional and session judge Dilbagh Singh Johal also slapped a fine of Rs 1 lakh on Dalip and Rs 10,000 on his wife.
