Man held for molesting his daughter-in-law

The police here arrested a 62-year-old man, resident of Phase 7, for allegedly molesting his daughter-in-law, on Sunday. The woman, a 42-year-old non-resident Indian (NRI) from the US, has told the cops that her father-in-law had molested her when she was alone in the house a few days ago.

The police here arrested a 62-year-old man, resident of Phase 7, for allegedly molesting his daughter-in-law, on Sunday. The woman, a 42-year-old non-resident Indian (NRI) from the US, has told the cops that her father-in-law had molested her when she was alone in the house a few days ago.

Mataur police station house officer (SHO) Naveen Pal Lehal said, “We have arrested the man after registering the FIR under sections 294 (obscene act), 323(causing hurt), 354 (assault of woman with intent to outrage modesty) and 498A (husband or his relative subjecting woman to cruelty) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). We have also booked the man's daughter (victim's sister-in-law, 22) for causing hurt to her. We will produce the man in court on Monday.”

In her complaint, the victim said she was married to the accused's son in 2010 and they went to the US after their marriage but she had returned to India this February and was living with her father-in-law and sister-in-law in Phase 7.
