Man held for possessing stolen motorcycle

One person was arrested and a stolen motorcycle was recovered from his possession on Friday.

The suspect, identified as Jaswinder Singh, a resident of SAS Nagar, was on a motorcycle bearing the registration number CH-01-AN-8730.

The police said he was stopped at a kerosene oil pump at Sector 45 for routine verification after which the police found that the number to be fake. During questioning, the suspect allegedly revealed that he had stolen a motorcycle bearing the number PB-36F-8562 and changed the number plate.

The suspect was produced before a local court, which remanded him to police custody. He has been charged with making or counterfeiting a seal, plate, etc with intent to commit a forgery (section 473) and dishonestly receiving stolen property (section 411) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The police believe they can recover more stolen goods from him.
