Man held for raping daughter

The police have arrested a resident of Mauli Baidwan village (Sector 80) in SAS Nagar for allegedly raping his 19-year-old daughter, who had gone missing about a month ago.

The police have arrested a resident of Mauli Baidwan village (Sector 80) in SAS Nagar for allegedly raping his 19-year-old daughter, who had gone missing about a month ago.

Sohana police station SHO said the case was registered against the 50-year-old after his daughter stated before the magistrate that she went to her mother’s place in Yamunanagar in Haryana after her father raped herThe accused is a part-time astrologer and is working as journalist in a weekly newspaper published from Chandigarh, the police said.

Based on her allegations, the police registered a case of rape, criminal conspiracy and criminal intimidation under sections 376, 120B and 506 of the IPC at the Sohana police station.

The SHO said the victim, a college student, went missing from her house in Mauli Baidwan on July 14. On August 8, her father lodged a complaint with the police that he suspected a boy of the same village of kidnapping her.

A case was registered at the Sohana police station in this connection.

The SHO said the girl was found staying with her mother in Yamanunagar, who is stays separate from her husband. The girl was brought back to SAS Nagar where she recorded her statement before a magistrate under section 164 of the CrPC.

In her statement, she alleged that her father sexually abused her and raped her which forced her to run away from home. She also alleged that her father’s sister and mother were involved in the crime.

The SHO said the police will produce the accused in a local court on Saturday.
