Man killed as rashly driven car hits scooter

A scooter-borne man was killed after being hit by a rashly driven car on Raipur Kalan road here on Sunday.The victim has been identified Surinder Singh, a resident of Sector 45. According to the information, the victim was on his way back home when he was hit by a rashly driven Ford Figo. The accused fled the spot after the incident. The police were informed and the victim was taken to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in Sector 32 where doctors declared him brought dead.

Inspector Charanjit Singh Virk, station house officer (SHO) at a local police station, said the number of the car could not be traced, but they were hopeful of cracking the case.

A case for rash driving, causing hurt by act of endangering life or personal safety of others, and causing death by negligence under sections 279, 337 and 304A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered against unidentified person at the Manimajra police station.

In a separate incident, Ram Bharose, a resident of Burail village, on Sunday alleged that Sushil Kumar who was on his motorcycle mowed down his father identified as Bhola Prasad when the latter was crossing 32/46 dividing road. A case has been registered at the Sector 34 police station.
