Man killed in road accident
A 30-year-old man was killed in a road accident in Chandigarh on late Saturday evening. The incident took place near the small roundabout in Sector 39/40. The victim has been identified as Puran Singh, resident of Sector 39. He worked in a canteen in Sector 17.

On Saturday, while the victim, along with Surinder Singh, was on their way back home on a Honda Activa, a rashly-driven unidentified three-wheeler hit their vehicle and fled from the spot.
A passerby informed the police and both the victims were rushed to the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) where the victim succumbed to his injuries. Puran's body has been kept in the hospital mortuary for postmortem following which it will be handed over to his family.
A case under sections 279 (rash driving) 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others), and 304A (causing death by negligence under sections) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered against the unidentified driver of the three-wheeler at Sector-39 police station.
In another incident, a case of rash driving has been registered at Sector-31 police station against the driver of an unidentified vehicle that sped away after hitting a motorcycle bearing registration number CH-01-AC-6080 near Tribune Chowk.
The motorcyclist identified as Vikas, resident of Behlana village, received injuries and was admitted to the Government Medical College and Hospital in Sector 32.
