In a shocking incident, a city-based businessman allegedly slapped his 82-year-old grandmother at his Sector-21 residence on October 5.

The trader was arrested on October 11 (Saturday) for the offence, after medical reports confirmed that the accused Vikramjit Singh’s grandmother Rajinder Kaur had indeed been hurt in the ear.

Sources said the accused Vikramjit Singh (27) and his grandmother stayed on different floors in the same house on Sector-21.

A dispute between them arose over renovation of a room in the ground floor.

When Rajinder Kaur reportedly refused to give the keys, the accused reportedly slapped her.

The woman then informed her son staying in the same sector and she was taken to the hospital.

The police was informed and a medical examination was conducted, which confirmed injury on her ear.

A case under Section 325 (causing grievous hurt) has been registered.
