Man who bought his plot carried out robbery

The police claim to have arrested four men for allegedly robbing a Nayagaon resident of Rs 3 lakh after throwing chilli powder in his eyes.

Police said the accused, Chinu and Vijay, had attacked Mandeep Kumar, on the directions of Sandeep Kumar and his accomplice, Suraj, while Mandeep, along with his friend, Rahul, were returning from the SBI bank on the premises of PGIMER on September 17.

Mandeep had sold his plot located at Janta Colony, Nayagaon, to Sandeep for Rs 3 lakh and had gone to the bank to deposit the amount, but could not due to some technical glitch at the bank.

He told the police that while returning, two men appeared from the jungle area and threw chilli powder in his eyes, before fleeing with his bag containing the cash.

The police said they received a tip that Sandeep, who had purchased the plot from the complainant, was involved in the robbery. Therefore, a team of crime branch headed by sub-inspector Tarsem Singh laid a naka near Khuda Lahora village and apprehended Sandeep and his accomplice, Suraj.

During interrogation, Sandeep confessed that as he was aware that Mandeep would deposit the sale amount in the SBI branch at PGI, he hired Chinu and Vijay with the motive to rob him. Thereafter, on his directions, Chinu and Vijay robbed Mandeep and fled in a Bolero jeep. On his disclosure, the crime branch team laid a trap near the Sector 25/38 light point and nabbed Chinu and Vijay. During interrogation, Rs 2.5 lakh, the Bolero jeep used in the crime and a Bajaj Pulsar motorcycle was recovered from their possession.
