Amid the ongoing tussle between Mandi Municipal Council (MMC) councillors, president, vice president and officiating executive officer (EO), the MMC has taken some time to look at the development issues of the town and announced funds of Rs 50 lakh for the repair and beautification of Hamirpur.
Officiating EO Ajay Parahsar said the work would be done in two phases and tenders worth Rs 17 lakh had been floated for the works to be done in six wards and Indira Market in first phase.
MMC president Sushila Saunkhla, however, said matter was discussed in the previous general house, but she
had not yet approved the proposal and was not aware about the tenders.
Meanwhile, Parashar said the engineering department of MMC was preparing estimate of the repair and beautification works of the rest seven wards of the town and soon the amount would be sanctioned according to the estimate.
Parashar said the MMC was going to fix benches at few places of the town to accommodate people, especially senior citizens, women and children, to sit in open and Rs 3 lakh would be spent for the purpose.
