Fog and sudden drop in daytime temperature once again threw life out of gear in city, with the maximum temperature plunging to 10.5°C, nine notches below normal, on Tuesday.

The Chandigarh Meteorological Centre said at 7.6°C, the minimum temperature remained more or less the same.

The maximum temperature on Monday was recorded at 16°C.

Meanwhile, fog witnessed on Tuesday morning reduced visibility to a distance of less than 350m.Owing to poor visibility, all 15 flights operating from Chandigarh airport remained grounded.

Trains were better off with only two trains running behind schedule. Unchahar Express that runs between Allahabad and Chandigarh- chugged in 16 hours late, while the Sadbhavna Express, running between Chandigarh and Lucknow, departed five hours behind schedule.

As the day proceeded, however, the fog cleared.

The department has predicted that while the sky is likely to remain clear over the next three days, city will continue to witness dense fog in the mornings and at night.
