City mayor Poonam Sharma's meeting with Maneka Gandhi, minister for women and child development, has been postponed.
The meeting, which aims to discuss the issue of stray dogs in Chandigarh, was scheduled to be held on April 1.In a press release issued on Monday, Sharma said the meeting with the minister had been postponed and the next date would be fixed soon.
She said she and a team of councillors would discuss the matter of the recent rise in dog-bite cases and the poor financial condition of the victims with Gandhi.
She further informed that the Municipal Corporation vaccinated 128 dogs in and around Manimajra in two phases as part of its anti-rabies vaccination camps, adding that the next four-weekly vaccination camps would also be organised in Manimajra to cover the entire area.
Thirteen people including seven children were bitten by stray dogs in Manimajra on Wednesday.
