Punjab BJP chief Kamal Sharma on Friday demanded that the state election commission extend the poll timings by two hours, besides more deployment of cops outside the sensitive booths for the municipal elections on February 22 and 25.

"The voting time should be extended to 6pm so that the people who are in job can get enough time to exercise their franchise. During the few previous polls in many states as well, it has been noticed that the vote percentage increased when the timing was increased," Sharma said in a letter to the state election commissioner, expressing dissatisfaction with the 8am to 4pm timing.
