MC starts campaign for greener Chandigarh

The municipal corporation (MC) of Chandigarh began its month-long campaign for a greener City Beautiful from Sector 22 on Saturday.
City mayor Harphool Chander Kalyan distributed saplings of various plants to the area residents and told them about the harmful effects of environment pollution.

He also urged them to plant more trees and protect the existing ones.
Area councillor Pardeep Chhabra, MC commissioner Vivek Pratap Singh, MC chief engineer Mukesh Anand and other officials of the civic body were also present on the occasion. Nearly 150 saplings, including of Chandni, Thoroliya, Neem etc. had been planted during the drive, said Krishan Pal Singh, executive engineer of the horticulture division of MC. MC also organised a tree-plantation drive at a park in Sector 35.
