A customer at the McDonald’s outlet in Sector 22 received a rude shock when he found a piece of plastic in his burger on Sunday. He immediately called up the police who arrived at the scene and later filed a daily diary report in the matter besides forwarding a complaint to the health department for necessary action.
The chief of the Sector 22 police post, Desh Raj Singh, said the police squad that was dispatched to the McDonald’s outlet corroborated the customer’s allegation.
Yashjeet Gupta, a resident of Sector 69, SAS Nagar, said he along with his 14-year-old son visited the McDonald’s outlet, situated in the Aroma hotel building, where they placed an order for two burgers.
He said when his son was eating the burger he realised he had bitten into something hard and found it to be a piece of plastic.
Gupta said he called the manager and told him he wanted to lodge a formal complaint, but when he ignored his request he called up the cops. He said the manager then tried to mollify him by offering another burger for free.
When contacted, the outlet’s assistant manager, Kubesh Banyal, claimed the manager, Jyoti Sarup, had already “sorted out” the matter before going home.
