Mercury hovers above normal in Punjab, Haryana

Maximum temperatures on Monday continued to hover above normal level at various places in Punjab and Haryana.

The Union Territory of Chandigarh recorded a maximum temperature of 34.2 degrees Celsius, two degrees above normal, the MeT department report said.

Hisar in Haryana was the hottest place in the region as it's maximum settled at 37.5 degrees Celsius, two degrees above normal.

Ambala recorded a high of 33.8 degrees, while sultry conditions prevailed in Bhiwani, where the maximum was 36.6 degrees Celsius.

In Punjab, Amritsar recorded a high of 34 degrees, while Ludhiana and Patiala recorded respective maximums of 33.5 and 34.4 degrees Celsius.
