Minimum temperatures rise sharply in Punjab and Haryana

The minimum temperature in Punjab and Haryana were recorded at around 4-8 degree Celsius above the normal range today.

The minimum temperature in Punjab and Haryana were recorded at around 4-8 degree Celsius above the normal range today.


The minimum temperature at Chandigarh shot to 14.2 degrees Celsius, eight degrees above normal, the Meteorological Department said here.


In Haryana, the low at Ambala rose to 12.6 C, six above normal, while at Hisar, the low was recorded at 12.3 C, also up by six degrees.


The minimum at Karnal was 11.4 C, up four degrees, at Rohtak, the low settled at 11 C, five above normal, while the low at Narnaul increased to 10 C, up five.


In Punjab, the minimum shot to 13.5 C at Ludhiana, which was seven degrees above normal, while Patiala also witnessed a steep increase in the night temperature at 14 C, also up by seven degrees.


Amritsar at a low of 6 C, however, experienced a cold night, though the temperature was still two degrees above normal.
