A minor girl found dead under mysterious circumstances in Industrial Area, Phase 2, Panchkula, on Tuesday. The girl’s body was found hanging but doctors said postmortem revealed that she did not die of hanging and cause of death was asphyxia.
The police have not ruled out any possibility of rape before death or even honour killing. The victim was 16-year-old and was a student of Class 9 of a government school. Her mother Suman said she was found hanging in the toilet. She added that she had gone to toilet in the morning but did not come out. Though family members thought, she must have gone outside.
They searched her outside as well but could not locate her. When toilet’s door was opened, which Suman claimed was not locked from inside, she was found hanging.
“We are waiting for postmortem report. Meanwhile, we have registered a case under section 306 (for abetment of suicide) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC. We are investigating the case form all the angles,” said deputy commissioner of police (DCP) Ashwin Shenvi.
