Two days after the police arrested a priest’s son and a woman for kidnapping two minor girls, the duo has also been booked for charges of rape.
Police said the medical examination of the girls revealed that the victims had been raped after being kidnapped.
After Shabnam was arrested, she made an attempt to flee from police custody, but was nabbed later.
A case under section 224 for resistance or obstruction by a person to his lawful apprehension under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) was also registered against her.
The investigation officer said the woman was produced before a local court, from where she was sent to judicial custody in connection with the case of unlawful apprehension.
A case had earlier been registered against 18-year-old Rahul and Shabnam under sections 366 (kidnapping, abducting or inducing woman to compel her marriage), 363 (kidnapping), 376 (rape) and 120b (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), after the complaint of one of the victims’ father.
