Minor rape case: Father, mother held in Nayagaon

The father has been arrested over the charges of rape, whereas the mother was held for involving in the criminal conspiracy. The cases against both were registered on Monday when the victim girl,17, had lodged a complaint at the child helpline number -1098 that her father had been raping her since 2008 and the mother did not act even on her complaint.
Police arrested parents under Sections 376 (rape), 313 (causing miscarriage without the woman’s consent) and 120b (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and several other sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012.
After the arrest of the parents, a 14-year-old brother of the victim was left alone at the house. Police confirmed that the boy was presently alone but his relatives who live in Bihar had been informed. It is worth mentioning that another brother of the victim had committed a suicide last month and reasons are still unknown.
