Three cars parked outside houses were damaged by unidentified miscreants in Sector 32 and two in Sector 35 late on Monday night, police said.
Windscreens of a Tata Indigo sedan and two Tata Indica cars were damaged in Sector 32 apparently with bricks and stones. After the first incident of a car being smashed, around 12.15am, cops were called by the area residents. No sooner had the police left after recording evidence that the miscreants struck again around 12.45am, and damaged two other cars.
Hamer Singh, one of the complainants, said he had noticed three men roaming outside his residence at midnight. Gurvinder Singh and Bittu Sharma were among the people who reported damage to cars. The police were called again and a case registered.
In Sector 35, Major RS Gujral (retd) said that around 1.30am a girl who is paying guest at his house heard the sound of glass breaking. They went out and found his two cars’ windscreens smashed. Gujral said security cameras at his residence showed “about a dozen boys in a white Scorpio car”, throwing a brick at the car parked inside the house and at another parked outside.
