MLA jumps into lake to fish out victims’ bodies

Two legislators from Bilaspur district displayed exemplary behaviour while lending a helping hand in the rescue operations after the tragic accident on Wednesday wherein 25 people were killed.

Bilaspur Sadar MLA Bhumbar Thakur even jumped into the Govind Sagar reservoir and did his best to fish out bodies. Bhumbar’s swimming act boosted the morale of those assisting the rescue teams to fish out the bodies.

Chief parliamentary secretary and Ghumarwein legislator Rajesh Dharmani, who received telephonic intimation about the mishap, immediately sought a lift from a motorbike rider passing outside his residence at Ghumarwein and rushed to the accident spot.

He also intimated the district administration and sought fisheries department’s help and asked officials to seek help from the local fisherman, police and other agencies for the rescue. Both the leaders remained on their toes while overseeing the rescue operation along with the superintendent of police Ashok Kumar, besides other officials and rescuers.

The locals appreciated the work being done by the two legislators.
