Several parts of the state were lashed by moderate to heavy rain during the last 24 hours on Saturday. The meteorological department has issued a warning of heavy rain in the lower and middle altitude areas of the state in the next 48 hours.
Shimla meteorological centre director Manmohan Singh said overall rain was much deficient today but the state capital received 27 millimeter of rainfall.
“Only 3mm of rainfall was recorded across the state while the normal mark was 14mm. Moderate to heavy rain is likely in coming days across the state,” said Singh.
There was intermittent rain in the town, causing inconvenience to local people. Heavy rain also uprooted trees at some areas, causing disruption to vehicular traffic. On Saturday evening, traffic was disrupted on the Sanjauli-Lakkar Bazaar road due to landslide near the Auckland tunnel. The district administration has pressed machinery to through the vehicular traffic.
