Parkash Singh Badal, chief minister of Punjab, said at Muktsar on Monday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had done ‘wonders’ in a short span of his year at the Centre. He has done things which the Congress could not even in two decades of its rule, he added.

The chief minister visited various villages of the Lambi assembly segment of the district to address sangat darshan programmes.

“Under his visionary and dynamic leadership, the prestige and honour of the country has enhanced across the globe during the last one year and India has emerged as a global superpower in the world,” the chief minister said, congratulating Modi on the completion of his one year in office as prime minister,

The chief minister said that during the last one year, the NDA government has launched several pro-poor schemes like Jan Dhan Yojna, Swachh Bharat, Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao, Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojna, Prime Minister’s Bima Suraksha, Atal Pension and Pradhan Mantri Jeewan Jyoti Bima Yojna for ensuring the welfare of the common man. He said that none of the other governments at the centre had ever initiated such pro-people schemes in a short span of one year.

The chief minister further said that the state government has embarked a major plan for strengthening the network to facilitate the people in the water areas of the state. The CM said the state government has released the compensation for the farmers who have suffered losses due to the incessant rains in the region.

Earlier, addressing gatherings at Aalamwala, Bodiwala, Midda, Raniwala, Mohlaan, Panniwala villages and others, he exhorted the people to play a proactive role in the development of the villages by personally supervising the ongoing development works.
