Tejinder Pal Singh Sidhu, deputy commissioner, SAS Nagar, here on Monday said that strict action should be taken against encroachers in the district.
He was presiding over a meeting with officers of the revenue department to review the work of removing illegal encroachments form the common lands in district here on Monday.
Sidhu directed officials that all pending cases of encroachment should be cleared at the earliest as defaulters do not bother about warrants issued to them.
He urged officials of the revenue department to perfor m their duties with transparency and dedication so that public should not face any problem while getting records and registration of lands. “Corruption by any official is not acceptable,”he added.
The DC also presided over a meeting with district-level road safety committee. He said that a traffic park and a driving test track would be soon constructed in SAS Nagar and Dera Bassi, respectively and directed officials to expedite the school vehicle scheme.
He also told the district transport officer (DTO) to challan vehicles that are running without the permission and conduct special checking drives to keep a tab on students below the age of 18 driving vehicles.
Additional deputy commissioner, development, Puneet Goel, sub- divisional magistrate ( SDM), SAS Nagar, Lakhmeer Singh, SDM Kharar, Sukhjeet Pal Singh, civil surgeon, Neelam Bhardwaj, additional commissioner, general, Jashanpreet Kaur Gill, tehsildar, Kharar, Pardeep Singh Bains, and others were also present.
