The Union government has cleared the name of 2002-batch Haryana cadre IAS officer Mohammad Shayin for the post of deputy commissioner of Chandigarh.
As per a notification issued by the department of personnel and training (DoPT) and conveyed to the Chandigarh administration, Shayin would replace incumbent Brijendra Singh for a period of three years. However, Shayin would take over the charge by mid-August, as he is presently undergoing mid-career training at Lal Bahdaur Shastri National Academy of Administration in Musoorie.
The DoPT has also given its nod for the repatriation of incumbent Chandigarh DC Brijendra Singh to his parent state. Pertinently, during his three-year tenure with the UT administration, Singh had sought repatriation to Haryana twice. However, the UT administration was reluctant to relieve him until it got its new DC.
Shayin, a graduate in Agriculture (Hons) and masters in Management, has served as DC of Jind, Mahendergarh, Bhiwani and Ambala districts. Besides, he has also served as managing director of Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam and Administrator, HUDA, Rohtak. Before being appointed as the Chandigarh DC, he was serving as Administrator of HUDA at Hisar.
