From being a nervous beginner fiddling with a Canon AE-1 Program to a suave photographer wielding a canon EOS 550D, Dinesh Verma, manager, Oriental Insurance, is exhibiting his third solo show, Luminous Interval, at Punjab Kala Bhawan, Sector 16.
“It’s been 20 years that I have been clicking pictures. My work earlier has revolved around landscapes, portraits and abstracts, but this time, it’s all about nature and the various moods of people,” shares Dinesh. Ask him if these moods are choreographed, and he says, “No, they aren’t. I know what you mean, people abroad are usually not very cooperative when it comes to non-permitted photography, but it’s all about clicking at the spur of the moment, of course using zoom.”
Returning to his trip to the US, he says, “There are 42 photographs of different cities of the US — the Time Square and the Wall Street of New York City, the beaches of Los Angeles, the slopes of San Francisco, the glitter of Las Vegas and the expanse of Miami beach. It was an 18-day trip, and I was accompanied by my wife and children.”
The exhibition is a vibrant take on the different shades of life — a mother walking with her child on the Miami Beach hung on one side and an old woman carrying a newspaper on her head on the other. The most attractive of the pictures, however, is the eye-catch ing series on Miami Beach. The exhibition is on till October 14.
