Irked over complaint of eve-teasing against them, three youths stabbed a woman and her daughter residing in Phase 4 of SAS Nagar after barging into their house on Thursday evening. Acting promptly, police arrested two of the accused within two hours of the attack.
Victims Raminder Kaur and her teenaged daughter Rajakdeep Kaur, a student of Class 10 in Ajit Karam Singh International Public School in Sector 41 B of Chandigarh, were referred to Sector 32 government hospital for treatment.
The arrested youths were identified as Maninder (20) of Landran and Tajinder (20) of Phase 9, SAS Nagar. "We have arrested the two and soon nab the third accused. The boys have during preliminary questioning said that Maninder was infatuated with Rajakdeep who was however not keen to talk to him. Maninder had seen her talking to some other boys and a complaint lodged with Chandigarh police was the immediate provocation for the attack," said RS Sohal, DSP city, SAS Nagar.
As per the police complaint, the trio barged into into house number 669, Phase 4, at about 7pm and stabbed Raminder Kaur, wife of Amrik Singh, a government employee, and her daughter.
Police sources said that Rajakdeep, who goes for tuitions in Chandigarh, had on Thursday morning along with her mother lodged a complaint of eve-teasing at Sector 39 police station in Chandigarh.
Rajakdeep had earlier told her parents that a group of boys misbehaved with her. After her mother accompanied her on Thursday morning, the boys again misbehaved with the youngster. The injured victim in her police statement said that the accused had threatened her mother and her of dire consequences in case they lodged a police complaint.
