The mother of stray cattle victim Harpreet Singh Sodhi, Jagwinder Kaur, suffered a heart attack on Saturday after she learnt that that municipal corporation was unlikely to discuss the agenda of giving her daughter-in-law a job during its house meeting on Tuesday.
Jagwinder was rushed to Guru Harkrishan Hospital, Sohana, SAS Nagar, where her condition is said to be stable.
Harpreet Singh Sodhi, 33, of Sector 45 had died in a road accident after his bike rammed into stray cattle on April 6.
The family had demanded compensation and government job for the widow of Harpreet and MC councillors had assured of support to the family. Councillors had said that they would introduce an agenda item on the issue in the house meeting on Tuesday.
However, the agenda circulated on Saturday did not mention the road accident or a policy regarding it.
When the news of the missing agenda item reached the family, Harpreet's mother suffered a mild heart attack. Advocate Pankaj Chandgothia, who has already filed a public interest litigation asking for a compensation policy for such accidents, termed the inaction of the councillors as unfortunate and their assurances as mere political rhetoric. BJP leaders, including Sanjay Tandon, visited Jagwinder at Sohana hospital on Sunday and assured her of brining the agenda in the house.
