As a part ort of her ‘Saansad Apke Dwar’ programme, MP Kirron Kher on Tuesday organised the programme at Sector 27 community centre to listen to the residents’ grievances.
Kher said that people’s problems would be taken up with the UT administration on priority basis and get it sorted at the earliest. Area councillor Satinder Singh, district president Shakti Prakash Devshali and other local leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) were also present on the occasion.
The residents of Type-13 houses in Sector 28 complained that the condition of their houses was bad and there was immediate need for renovation. “Electricity wires are hanging and need to be replaced at the earliest,” they added.
The Sector 27 residents have demanded that the e-Sampark centre be expanded and more services should be introduced for convenience of the people. Office bearers of Kumaon Sabha demanded Kumaon Bhawan in Chandigarh on the pattern of Garhwal Bhawan and Maharashtra Bhawan. They said that large number of people from Kumaon lived in Chandigarh and they needed their own bhawan. Representatives of NGO Surya Foundation, which is running crèche, said that grant given by social welfare department was less and should be increased.
Residents of Ward number-18 expressed concern for the security in their sectors.
They said that patrolling should be increased and security gates and CCTV cameras be installed to keep a check on the unwanted elements creating nuisance.
They also complained of low pressure water in their sectors, adding that the residents living on top floor were deprived of running water.
The residents of EWS houses in Sector 30 demanded ownership rights.
