The local police have identified the prime suspect involved in the murder case of 30-year-old Shaheed alias Javed, who was stabbed to death on Thursday. Shaheed was stabbed at his mobile phone shop in Dariya village by two unidentified men who had come to the shop for phone recharge.

The accused has been identified as Pawan Kumar, who runs a hotel at Dariya.

Javed was allegedly having an affair with Pawan's second wife, police said. Pawan had once caught them in a compromising position and had threatened Javed of dire consequences. Pawan's wife confessed to police of having an affair with the deceased. The accused had sent two of his friends to attack the victim and they stabbed him in the thigh. The victim died of excessive bleeding.

The accused and his two friends are still at large.

Meanwhile, on Friday morning, the residents of Colony Number 4 blocked a road in the Industrial Area in protest against police inaction in the case. The disgruntled residents alleged that the police have failed to make any headway and raised anti-police slogans. They also blocked the road near Bhushan Industries for more than one hour.

DSP (East) JS Khera and SHO of the Industrial Area police station inspector Malkit Singh reached the spot with force and managed to convince the protesters to clear the road.
