Haryana Institute of Fine Arts (HIFA) has put up a three-day group exhibition by nine artists, who are also HIFA award winners. Riding on the success of HIFA art show at Lalit Kala Akademi, Delhi, Piyush Kumar, secretary, HIFA, says the 36 pieces of art on display help negate the general presumption of Haryana as the land with insignificant cultural perspective of fine arts.

The exhibition was inaugurated by IAS MP Singh on Sunday. Senior artist Ram Partap Verma, originally from Bhiwani, revealed our preoccupation with multifarious socio-cultural, political and personal issues in the Tea Diplomacy — a feature in daily life.

He presented an analytical view of life through a sculpture and five paintings, including Common Man’s Tea—through immaculate drawing, colours and composition, this canvas clarifies the understanding between the artist and the art.

In his six works of acrylics and crayons on canvas, Panchkula-based Satwant Singh has explo-red the relationship between human being, birds and animals.

Depicting the mechanism of human life through four sets of graphic prints, Nutan Dhiman’s serigraphy print is a bold composition of colours with an effort to convey her thoughts. National award winner Rahul Dhiman has created assets in the field of art in his seven prints displayed here.

A strong composition with a bold human figure full of strength, Expansion, by Renuka Gulati in acrylic and oil on canvas is a feast for the eyes—depicting socio-cultural life in the context of male dominance and chauvinism, especially in rural areas. Artist Shiwani Parmar has displayed her strong composition through Life.

Portraying many dimensions through his experimental art, Pawan Bhatia has displayed Losing Existence—a mix media sculpture.

The exhibition is on at Punjab Kala Bhawan, Sector 16, till today.
