Officials said a case under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) had been registered against the unidentified persons.

Shivam (32), a resident of Chamba district in Himachal Pradesh, had stopped at a dhaba on Tuesday night and his body was found in the truck on Wednesday.

Officials said the driver had allegedly gone inside the truck after his meal and the truck remained parked near the dhaba.

Dhaba owner, Amrit Pal, said he presumed that the driver had gone to sleep adding that when he tried to wake him up he found him dead with injury marks on his body.

The deputy commissioner of police (DCP), Hamid Akhatar, and SHO Ramesh Chand reached the spot.

SHO said the documents pointed out that the truck belonged to a transport company at Baddi, which is owned by Lakhwinder Singh. He added that Lakhwinder told on phone that the victim had left for Lucknow from Nalagarh on November 24 with goods and was returning after the delivery.
