A National Accreditation and Assessment Council (NAAC) team is scheduled to visit Panjab University from March 2-5 for assessment.
NAAC is an autonomous body set up by the University Grants Commission (UGC) to assess and accredit institutions of higher education in the country. Accreditation is a voluntary system of evaluation of higher education institutions and programmes based on self-evaluation and peer-assessment for improvement of academic quality and public accountability. NAAC's accreditation will be based on parameters such as curriculum, teaching, evaluation, research, infrastructure and innovative practices.
PU, whose accreditation had expired in January 2013, had applied for its renewal. The varsity has constituted a committee to prepare for the impending visit. NAAC team had last visited campus in 2009 and was all praises for the varsity.
