Nahan MLA (BJP) Rajiv Bindal has decided go on a 72-hour fast from June 12 in protest against the delay in pending development works in his constituency.
Through his protest, which would continue till June 14, Bindal would press variousl demands of the people of the area, including adequate supply of drinking water, proper power supply and immediate repair of road, a BJP spokesman said. Meanwhile, Bindal alleged that the Congress government in the state is adopting a discriminatory approach towards his constituency.
He said that the water problem in the town is aggravating day by day but the irrigation and public health (IPH) department and the electricity board are indulging in allegations and counter-allegations against each other rather than of solving the problem of the people.
He said that the IPH department claims that due to irregular power supply, the Khairi lift drinking water scheme does not work properly.
In a meeting held on Saturday, the BJP had decided to launch an agitation against the state government and “inactive bureaucracy”, Bindal added.
