The complainant, Harpreet Singh, resident of Kishanpur village in Moga, had alleged that the official was demanding Rs 4 lakh as gratification for releasing the registry paper of his newly-purchased land. The complainant alleged that he purchased 2 acres, the registry of which was ready on July 23, 2014, but the papers were not released to him.
The first installment of the bribe was to be handed over today. After receiving the complaint, a vigilance bureau team led by flying squad-1, SAS Nagar, led by SP Hargobind Singh and accused Bachittar Singh Dhadda was arrested, while accepting bribe of Rs 1 lakh from the complainant in his office.
After the recovery of the amount from his pocket, a case under Section 7 and 13 (2) of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, has been registered against the naib tehsildar in police station, vigilance flying squad-1, SAS Nagar. The police have also recovered the Rs 3.99 lakh after raiding his house in Mansa and Rs 2 lakh from the house in Moga.
