Upset over the dawdling approach of the authorities of national highway (NH) and public works department in completing the construction of bridges and the road in a time-bound manner, sitting BJP legislator of Nalagarh on Friday urged the Centre to intervene into the matter in the larger interest of the people of the area.

In a letter, MLA KLThakur urged union minister of surface transport Nitin Gadkari that the authorities concerned were completing the construction of the road work without following the uniform pattern with respect to width of the road and also compromising the quality of work.

He said instead of dillydallying approach, Chikani hhad and Maha Nadi khad bridges should be reconstructed immediately, besides widening of large number of culverts.

“The quality and nature of work of the road and culverts are much below that the basic requirement of road construction as per the standards of national highway. The work is being done in a piecemeal manner unlike the high standard of work on national highways constructed in the adjoining state of Haryana and Punjab,” said the MLA.

“The construction work of the road should be divided into minimum 10 sectors with sufficient machinery and manpower in each sector so that the construction work is carried out in uniform pattern and in a time-bound manner, while maintaining the quality of the work as per the national highway standard like sprinkling of water regularly on the road surface,” he added.
