Punjab deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal on Friday said the decision regarding the PM candidate would be taken by the NDA collectively. He was reacting to a question regarding the candidature of Narendra Modi for the top post in the wake of his hat-trick victory in Gujarat.
"Modi's win is a vote for development. The people of Gujarat have followed the Punjab example," he said, adding, "When we fought elections on development plank, we were mocked at by the Congress. The Gujarat elections come as vindication for us too."
Addressing a gathering, Sukhbir accused the Congress of running away from debate in Vidhan Sabha. On charges of lawlessness, he said the government had date to prove that "Punjab is the most peaceful state". He said Congress-ruled states like Kerala, Haryana, Rajasthan and Delhi had worse law and order situation.
On local issues, he said the SAD-BJP government would make all-out efforts to develop Morinda and Chamkaur Sahib, as these cities had great historical and religious importance. Earlier, he inaugurated a Rs.15-crore railway over-bridge and a Rs 42-lakh sub-tehsil building at Morinda. Revenue minister Bikram Singh Majithia and public works minister Sharanjit Singh Dhillon were with him.
