New academic session to start at PGI

The new academic session at the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) will start on Tuesday.

Dr R Chidambaram, principal scientific adviser government of India and chairman, Scientific Advisory Committee to the Cabinet will inaugurate the session. Addressing the new resident doctors, he will speak on the topic Medicine and the Knowledge Economy.

During the function, 29 silver medals and 32 bronze medals will be distributed to the students for outstanding research and academic excellence. The pin-up ceremony for the entrants for the session of July 2013 and January 2014 will also be held.

A total of 140 students have joined MD/MS courses of various medical and surgical specialties and 43 students have joined various super specialty courses.
