The all-new website of the state assembly punjabassembly.nic.in had been under construction for more than a year and now it is ready for launch with a new look and detailed information.
Under the national campaign to boost e-governance, the National Informatics Centre (NIC) of the union government has reconstructed websites of legislative assemblies of all the states.
Shashi Lakhan Pal Mishra, deputy secretary-cum-secretary to Punjab assembly said, “We have provided all the required data they demanded for the website and now the project is under observation in Himachal Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh and websites are under test,” she added.
All websites will be interlinked with a software and it will also have direct links to Parliament and all other legislative bodies of the country.
About the delay in the launch, she said, “The process got delayed due to the Lok Sabha elections. But, now work has been speeded up as the new government has already taken over.”
The website will be operated and maintained by the NIC and it will also have several features such as details of proceedings of the house, profiles of members, assembly committees, amenities to members, questions raised in the assembly besides history and a brief of proceedings of the house. It will also reveal details of debates on bills passed on the floor of the house.
