Sukhbir said the new policy focused on public convenience, safety and smooth parking arrangements in every marriage palace. The policy mandates that each marriage palace would meet fire safety norms, he said, adding that a new category had been created for marriage palaces and these had been separated from the commercial category.

Under the policy, the classification of marriage palaces is being worked out as per location and size. Detailed rates of change of land use, licence fee and other charges payable at regularisation would be notified in the policy.

Assuring decentralised and single window service for regularisation of marriage palaces, the deputy CM said it was in the interest of owners to get their marriage palaces regularised at the earliest after meeting the norms laid down in the new policy.
