Nikhil tops Class 12 with 98.2%

Chandigarh boy Nikhil Sheron, a student of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Sector 47, topped the tricity by scoring 98.2% in the non-medical stream of the CBSE Class 12 examinations, the results of which were announced on Wednesday.

Regional director of CBSE, RJ Khanderao said that 20,719 students appeared for class 12 from tricity, out of which 16,458 students cleared the exam.

Last year, the tricity topper was from Panchkula, but this year Chandigarh has been far ahead and captured t he t op slots all the streams in the tricity, except Mehak Chadha of Bhavan Vidyalaya, Panchkula, who shared the top position in humanities stream with a Chandigarh student. Most of the second and third slots in various streams were secured by the Chandigarh students.

In non-medical stream, the overall second position in the tricity was secured by student of GMSSS-37, Ritwik Chaudhary ( 97 .6 %) followed by Srishti Chadha of Bhavan Vidyalaya, Panchkula who secured the third position with 97% marks.

In Commerce, two Chandigarh students shared the top slot. Sumedha Arora, Bhavan Vidyalaya, Sector 27, and Aish warya Dhawan o f Sacred Heart Senior Secondary School, Sector 26 who secured 97.8% each.

Sumedha Arora, whose father is charted accountant and associate professor of civil engineering in PEC, achieved this feat with no extra tuitions. She said, “The credit goes to my mother who motivated me to focus on self - study and not to waste time in shuffling between coaching centres.”

Anmol Bains of Vivek High School and Rishab Goyal of Bhavan Vidyalaya, Sector 27, secured the second position in the tricity with 97.6%. The t hi rd posit i on in commerce in the tricity was secured by another Bhavan Vidya l aya s t udent Kshit e j Mendiratta with 97.4%.

A student of Kendriya Vidyalaya 3BRD, Ekta Mishra, secured the first position in tricity in medical stream with 97.6% followed by Sukriti Nehra of Carmel Convent, Sector 9, with 96.6% marks.

The third position was bagged by Chitrakshi and Shivani Gupta of Sacred Heart School, Sector 26, who secured 2nd position in tricity at 96.2%.

Nehmat Gondara of Delhi Public School, Sector 40, shared the top slot in Humanities in the tricity with Mehak Chadha of Bhavan Vidyalaya , sector 15, Panchkula, who both scored 97.6%.
