In his 17-year-long career, this actor has managed to change his image from that of a chocolate boy to mister salt-and-pepper. He prefers his one-on-one with a smoke and believes his bearded look is ‘in’. He gives us eight minutes and names a dozen of his upcoming films.

Though in city to shoot a Pollywood project, actor Mukul Dev prefers to talk first about his upcoming Bollywood projects, “There is a film Mental with Salman Khan where I’m playing the bad guy, son of a minister. In Rambo Rajkumar, I’m playing Shahid Kapoor’s best friend’s role, a gangster. Recently, I signed Vikram Bhatt’s 3D film Creature, which also features Emraan Hashmi and Bipasha Basu. My role in the film is inspired from Harrison Ford’s Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Then there is Vikram Bhatt’s Bhaag Johnny with Kunal Khemu and Bhaiyyaji Superhit. I also just finished shooting for War Chhod Na Yaar, a first of its kind war comedy featuring Sharman Joshi, Soha Ali Khan and Javed Jaffery.”

While on the sets of Punjabi movie Heer & Hero, Mukul discloses his Pollywood projects, “I will be seen in Punjabi No 1 with Jimmy Sheirgill and Kulraj Randhawa, besides a film called Aashiq Pathe.”

With both his hands full, the actor doesn’t regret not having time for himself, says he, “I have seen days where I had to sit at home all day due to lack of work. There’s no feeling above being in demand for your work.”

Is the beard too a work prerequisite? “Primarily, yes. But, I’m personally happy too, as I don’t have to shave everyday! People have accepted me this way. Also, it’s time I mature and take up roles that suit me.”
