To make the matters worse, complaints are not being attended owing to the ongoing repair work, which has left the residents fuming.

"There is no electricity in the area since 3 am and the power supply was in disrupted even on Friday. The calls to the electricity department to lodge complaints are not being answered," said Krishan Monga, a resident of Shivalik Vihar, Nayagaon.

"There has been no electricity in our area for teh last about 36 hours and the electricity officials have failed to give reason for no power supply. The electricity went off as soon as it started pouring and since then all we are getting are assurances that supply will be restored soon, if at all the phone is answered," said Vikram Kaushal, a resident of Kansal.

"Owing to rain the repair work is being delayed, though the staff is trying to rectify faults," an official said.

Industrial area inundated
The pre-monsoon showers left the SAS Nagar Industrial Area waterlogged owing to choked drains and unclean road gullies. The roads at many places in the area were submerged in water and commuters were seen slogging to drive through the waterlogged roads.

As traffic lights at various points were not working, commuters had a tough time manoeuvring through jams.
