During the resumed hearing of the petition for cancelling the August 3 examination for filling 50 Haryana Civil Services (HCS) posts, the state government submitted in the Punjab and Haryana high court on Friday that the rules had no provision for question papers in any language other than English.

Petitioner’s counsel Sajjan Singh Malik argued that the advertisement for the posts had specified Hindi as one of the two qualifying-test languages. The case was adjourned to August 12. The petition filed on behalf of Mudhal Khurd villager Amit Kumar requests the court for also holding the declaration of result and re-conducting the examination under the conditions laid down in the advertisement.

On February 20, Haryana had advertised these 50 posts.

Kumar claims to have completed his education from Hindi-medium institutions and prepared for the examination in the national language.
