The Punjab government on Tuesday said there were no shortage of urea fertiliser for the ongoing crop season, while asking farmers not to be worried in this regard as the state had arranged adequate quantity of urea to meet their demand.

Agriculture minister Jathedar Tota Singh reviewed the agriculture department's arrangements for the supply of urea at a video conferencing session with central government agencies, along with higher officials of the department.

He stated that during the kharif season last year, the consumption of the fertiliser was recorded at 7.97 lakh MT, but this year, the state had received 10.23 lakh MT of urea, adding that an adequate stock of urea had already been supplied to cooperative societies and private dealers across the state.
