It is official now that no public authority in Haryana has any record pertaining to the assets of members and chairman of the Haryana staff selection commission (HSSC).
In a reply to a RTI petition filed by a Panipat-based activist PP Kapoor, the commission categorically denied that it had any detail of assets of its members, chairman and their dependants.
Kapoor had sought details of moveable and immoveable properties of all HSSC members and chairman and their dependants.
Currently, the commission has five members and Vijay Kumar is its chairman.
HSSC's state public information commission asked the petitioner to approach the office of the chief secretary to get information about assets etc.
Meanwhile, the commission office categorically stated that "the information (on assets details) is personal and cannot be furnished as the same has no relation with any public activity or interest or else would cause unwarranted invasion of the privacy of the individuals".
However, the general service branch of the chief secretary also stated that it had no information about assets of the HSSC members.
Following Kapoor's allegation that HSSC's statement that "information of members' assets is confidential" is a tactic to conceal facts, the chief information commission has summoned the commission SPIO on October 9, before a bench of Prem Veer Singh.
Kapoor told HT on Saturday that it was shocking to know that there was no record of assets of the HSSC members appointed by the state government.
"It should be ensured that all the HSSC members and chairman should submit complete details of assets owned by them and their dependants ever since they assumed their respective offices. These details should also be posted on the official website to maintain credibility," Kapoor said.
