Depressed over mother's denial of marriage with a resident of Indira Colony, an 18-year-old girl made an attempt to end her life by jumping from the fourth floor at Manimajra on Sunday night.

The girl identified as Santosh Kumari had come to her relative's house in Manimajra, where she jumped from the fourth floor. Santosh was rushed to the Government Multi-Speciality Hospital, Sector 16, where she is stated to be stable.

Santosh had been asking her mother to get her married to Joginder Singh, but they did not agree to it, following which she attempted to end her life. Santosh and Joginder had also reportedly fled from the city last month, but returned later. After the incident, her mother agreed to the marriage.

But again on Sunday, Santosh's mother refused to get her married to Joginder, following which the girl jumped.

Meanwhile, high drama prevailed outside the Manimajra police station where the family members of the girl protested on Monday. The girl's family demanded the arrest of the youth with whom the girl wanted to get married.

No case was registered in the matter as Santosh said she slipped by mistake when she went on the roof.
Later in the day, the mother agreed for the marriage.
