A 23-year-old man allegedly murdered his 46-year-old father in a fit of rage after the latter refused to give him his motorcycle keys at Billa village in Barwala block on Wednesday night.

The accused has been identified as Ankush, a farmer.

In her complaint, his grandmother Krishna Devi told the police that Ankush was seeking motorcycle keys from his father, Pawan Kumar, also a farmer, to go out on Wednesday night.

However, Pawan refused to give him the keys claiming that Ankush was intoxicated. Adamant on getting his way, Ankush picked up a rod and started smashing the motorcycle, she alleged.

When his family members, including his father, rushed to stop him, he turned around and hit his father on the head. He then fled the spot.

Pawan’s other son rushed him to General Hospital, Sector 6, Panchkula, where he succumbed to his injuries.

However, the family did not contact the police the entire night. It was only after Pawan died on Thursday morning that hospital authorities sounded the cops.Thereafter, on the complaint of Krishna Devi, the police booked Ankush under section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Inspector Arvind Kumar, station house officer of Chandimandir police station, said, “Ankush was arrested from the village chowk on Thursday evening following a tip-off. However, the rod is yet to be recovered. We will get Ankush medically examined to check whether he is a drug addict.”
